🚫 Pop-ups won't stop appearing ▾
Don't click any buttons inside the pop-up itself, including 'close' or 'remove virus' - close it from the taskbar or Task Manager instead, then run a scan with your antivirus software. Pop-ups claiming you've 'won a prize' or that 'your computer is infected, call this number' are almost always fake.
📧 Friends say I sent them a strange email ▾
Change your email password immediately from a different, clean device, and turn on two-factor authentication if you haven't already. Check your email's 'sent' folder and forwarding rules - attackers sometimes set up hidden auto-forwarding to keep reading your mail.
🏠 My browser's home page changed on its own ▾
Check your browser's extensions list and remove anything you don't recognize, then reset the home page in settings. This is usually caused by a bundled extension installed alongside free software - always choose 'custom install' when installing anything free.
🔥 Computer is running hotter or fans louder than usual ▾
Malware sometimes runs hidden background processes that use a lot of CPU. Open Task Manager and look for unfamiliar programs using high CPU or memory, especially ones with odd or random-looking names.
🔑 You're locked out of an account after a breach warning ▾
Use the official site's 'forgot password' option directly - never click a password reset link from an email you didn't expect. If you reused that password anywhere else, change it there too, since attackers test leaked passwords across multiple sites.
