Free Quick-Fix Guide

A few things you can try yourself before calling us. Click any question to expand it.

🔊 My hard drive is clicking or grinding
Stop using it immediately and power it off. Continuing to use a clicking drive can cause permanent data loss - bring it to us as soon as possible. The clicking sound usually means the read/write head is physically failing, and every extra power-on increases the risk of unrecoverable damage.
🗑️ I deleted a file by accident
Check the Recycle Bin / Trash first. If it's not there, stop saving new files to that drive right away to avoid overwriting the deleted data. The sooner you stop using the drive, the higher the chance of full recovery.
💽 My USB drive isn't showing up
Try a different USB port or computer before assuming the drive is dead - sometimes it's just a port or cable issue. If it shows up but asks to be 'formatted', do not format it; that can overwrite recoverable data.
📱 My phone won't back up to the cloud
Check that you have enough cloud storage space and a stable Wi-Fi connection - backups often pause silently when storage is full. Also confirm backup is actually turned on in settings, since software updates sometimes reset that option.
🧯 The drive was in water, fire, or got dropped
Do not attempt to power it on or dry it with heat (like a hair dryer) - this can cause permanent damage. Place it in a dry, safe container and bring it to us as soon as possible; physically damaged drives need professional lab recovery.
